How long does a repair take?

// 01Visiting the Shop
Do I need an appointment?+
No. Walk-ins are welcome Monday through Friday, 10am to 6:30pm. If you need a specific part, calling ahead at (503) 363-8221 lets us check it is on the shelf before you drive over.
Where are you located?+
384 Center St NE, Salem, OR 97301. We are open Monday through Friday, 10am to 6:30pm, and closed Saturday and Sunday.
How long have you been around?+
Since 2011. Reboot Computers is locally owned and operated in Salem, Oregon.
What do you work on?+
Phones (iPhone, Samsung, Pixel, OnePlus and Motorola), tablets (iPad and Galaxy Tab), Windows laptops and desktops, Macs, and game consoles including PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and older systems. We also do microsoldering and data recovery. If you do not see your device, call and ask.
What should I bring with me?+
The device, its charger, and the passcode or password so we can test the repair when it is done. If you can back up your data first, do. If you cannot, tell us and we will talk through it.
// 02Pricing & Warranty
How much does a repair cost?+
It depends on the device and the part. You get a quote before any work starts, and quotes are free. For a ballpark, call (503) 363-8221 and describe the problem.
What warranty comes with a repair?+
Every repair is covered by our 6-month warranty.
Do you run any deals?+
Often. We run specials on common repairs like console HDMI ports and Android charging ports. Ask when you call or come in.
What if it is not worth fixing?+
We will tell you straight. If the repair costs more than the device is worth, we will say so and help you get your data off it.
// 03Phones & Tablets
Can you fix my cracked screen?+
Yes. We replace screens on iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, OnePlus and Motorola phones, plus iPad and Galaxy Tab. Same-day repair is available on most screens.
Do you have parts in stock?+
We keep thousands of parts in stock for iPhone, Samsung and Pixel. If we need to special order something, overnight shipping is free.
My phone will not charge. Can you fix it?+
Usually, yes. It is often a worn or dirty charging port. Every phone repair also includes a free port cleaning and tune-up.
Can you replace my battery?+
Yes. Battery replacements for phones and tablets, and for laptops and MacBooks too.
My phone got wet. What should I do?+
Turn it off, do not try to charge it, and bring it in as soon as you can. The sooner we can treat liquid damage, the better the odds.
// 04Game Consoles
Which consoles do you repair?+
PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, plus older and legacy consoles.
My console has no picture on the TV. Can you fix it?+
Most of the time that is a damaged HDMI port, and we replace them on PlayStation and Xbox. Same-day turnaround is available.
My Switch will not charge.+
We replace USB-C charging ports and fix power issues on the Switch.
How long does a console repair take?+
Many port repairs are done the same day. Call ahead and we will tell you what to expect for your system.
// 05Computers & Macs
Do you work on both Mac and PC?+
Yes. MacBooks, iMacs, Windows laptops and desktops. Screens, hinges, keyboards, trackpads, batteries and charging ports.
My computer is slow. Can you fix that?+
Often, yes. An SSD upgrade or more RAM makes a big difference, and every SSD install includes a free data clone so your files come with you.
Do you remove viruses?+
Yes. Virus and malware removal, plus Windows and macOS updates and software repair.
My laptop or MacBook will not charge.+
That is often the charging port or power jack. We replace them, including soldered USB-C and MagSafe ports on MacBooks.
// 06Microsoldering
What is microsoldering?+
Board-level repair. Instead of swapping a whole part, we repair the logic board itself using specialized in-house tools. It fixes problems a simple part swap cannot.
What can microsoldering fix?+
Charging ports and power jacks soldered to the board, and logic board faults on phones, laptops and MacBooks. If you have been told a device cannot be fixed, bring it in for a second look.
// 07Data Recovery
Can you recover files from a device that will not turn on?+
Often, yes. We recover data from dead Macs, computers that will not boot, and failed drives.
Can you recover data after water damage?+
Yes. We treat liquid damage and recover what we can. Bring it in quickly and do not try to power it on.
My drive is making a clicking sound. Is that bad?+
It can be. Stop using it and bring it in. Every time a failing drive spins up, recovery gets harder.
Will I lose my data during a repair?+
Most repairs do not touch your data, but back up if you can. When we upgrade you to an SSD, we clone your data across for free.
// 08Repair Status
How do I check my repair status?+
Use the repair status page with your ticket number, or call us at (503) 363-8221.
